Economic Impact of IP Development Aid
One donor of IP related development aid was eager to assess the impact of IP related development assistance. In particular it was keen to establish the economic return on various IP related financial support schemes.
Our Approach
We used an institutional economics framework to map the impact of technical assistance on development aid.
Impact
We found that IP related technical assistance is widely dispersed and lacks a concerted approach. Many initiatives are undertaken on an ad-hoc basis and more could be done to assure that development aid is truly targeted towards the need of the receiving country. These findings were reflected in this specific donor country’s technical assistance. More should be done however to assure also other country’s assure that their development aid is done in the most efficient way possible.
