Promoting Competitiveness for University IP
Subsequent to reforms that attributed the ownership of IP to Universities this country was faced with the challenge of establishing functioning Technology Transfer Offices. Against this context, OxFirst was invited to provide a range of toolkits that helped develop a Technology Transfer context beneficial to this country’s economy.
Our Contribution
In a first step we undertook a competitive analysis and studied best practice in other European countries. We developed a performance metrics and subsequently identified ten successful tech transfer offices across the E.U. We extracted paradigmatic features and recommended that these be applied in this country as well.
Impact
Pursuant with our recommendations the tech transfer offices in our client country were organized as suggested.
"We engaged Oxfirst to undertake a comparative study of European best practice in Technology Transfer. This research enjoyed top level support from the Federal Ministry of Science and Research. Oxfirst’s work consisted of studying the various models of technology transfer in the E.U. and to advise us on governance structures that could work well for our country. The Oxfirst analysis was crucial to our current activities in this area and forms the baseline for our operational moves in this regard. We regard Oxfirst as a highly competent partner. It was a pleasure to cooperate with Oxfirst."
